Food: Cosans Coffee

Time really flies.. So fast it's another weekend and it's so close to CNY already! Have you done your shopping yet? I'm sure the shopping malls would be more crowded than usual with all the last minute shoppers, not to mention the jams and parking issues. The thought of it makes me lazy and don't want to leave the house (sloth mode on).

In case you didn't know yet, there's a new coffee house in Subang!
It just opened recently and they had a private event with invited fellow bloggers for a little food & coffee tasting. I didn't get a photo of the exterior as they were still setting up some lights and stuff (didn't want to kacau their work).

First impression when I stepped in, "Yup, I'm starting to like this place already even without tasting the food yet". I really like their interior space, it's all so simple yet cozy which makes you feel like you want to just enjoy your coffee and spend whole day reading some romantic novel there. Plus, their staffs were really friendly and welcoming (bonus points for them)!

Everyone's favorite, goody bags!

I was already starting to feel a little hungry when I got there and looking at this doesn't make things better.
Seems like they have already arranged them accordingly; salads for starter, sandwiches for main and cakes for dessert. They do have soups too! But they weren't serving soups that evening so I didn't get to try.

It was still early when we got there so we went around taking some photos.

The sofas were different but they complement each other well. Something different from the ordinary cafes which has same tables and chairs. I like really the posters hung around together with the mini spotlights, all adds to the vibe.
Oh, did I mention that the sofas are uber comfy to sit on too?

This spot would be awesome if you have a big group of people. Really love the big windows, can do some people watching while sipping a cuppa.

Their signature house blends; Equarre and Carreau.
Carreau has a fruitier and sweeter taste while Equarre is bitter and has a nutty taste.
(read more about it here)
My pick: Carreau House Blend

Left: Cappucino
Right: Cosans Latte (one of the signatures)

Our drinks were free flow that evening, how nice of them!
Wide selection of drinks : coffee, frappe, tea, sodas, chocolate drinks and yogurt smoothies

I did not pick which beans I wanted for my coffee so the barista prep it for me. I tasted bitter and strong burnt taste then I added some sugar into it. It's better but the burnt taste lingers there. As for the Latte, it has the right balance of both coffee and milk while the level of sweetness is perfect even without sugar.

They serve their coffee with brown sugar ❤

We were served two of their sandwiches that evening; Asianese Roasted Chicken and Smoked Duckling.

Love the tender juicy chicken thighs, lemongrass and overall flavor but it would be better if there's a bit more chicken in it as I tasted more of the greens rather than a balance of both. I would also prefer if they ask the customers whether or not they want to have coriander in it. I know it's part of the recipe but I am a strong hater of coriander :(

This is something that I would go for during my next visit there. Smoked duck with mozarella, arugula and tomatoes, how does that sound to you? Heaven! :D I definitely prefer this much more than the Asianese Roasted Chicken as the duck was good together with the cheese, everything seems to go perfectly well with each other.
Blogging about it now makes me hungry.

My most anticipated session for the evening, a demonstration by their award winning barista on the two coffee brewing methods; Aeropress and Pour Over. You would never guess that preparing a good cuppa coffee requires tonnes of effort behind it.

CEO of Cosans Coffee, Mr Matthew introduced and thanked his staffs one by one for all of their hard work in making the cafe happened. In less than 3 months, they came up with everything from scratch, from the concepts, designs, all the way to the art of coffee. He also mentioned the meaning behind Cosans.

Co = Coffee, San = Sense, S = Social Responsibility

After that, they had a lucky draw session where 6 winners are picked. Too bad I wasn't in luck.

We continued to mingle around and have more drinks!

Some of the fellow bloggers that we managed to take a photo with using Emily's camera! :D
I'm so happy to meet all of you lovelies

The staff took a polaroid shot of us. Yay for the photo as Jessica and Jia Qi's in it!

Try to spot us when you visit this cafe!

In each of our goody bag ...
A bag of Carreau house blend (YAY!)
Two packets of Dammann Fréres tea; Black tea and Chamomile herbal tea
Two packets of Gryphon's artisan selection teas; Hanami (blend #152) and Lemon Ginger Mint (blend #212)
A name card with the serial number for the earlier lucky draw session

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

My overall experience there was great, will definitely drop by again for a cuppa soon!

Date Night : Troika Sky Dining & Heli Lounge ❤

Took this while stuck in the traffic (:

So, the boyfie was back from JB for a few days and we were going for a date night somewhere in KL.
I stumbled on a list of sky dining restaurants in KL and let him decide on one place that interests him most.
Previously we found places such as Marini's on 57 and Heli Lounge already but didn't have the time to visit them.

Initially, he wanted to make a reservation at Marini's but the only slot we could get is at 9.30pm. That's kinda late for dinner and we'll have to eat in a rush as they close at 11pm :(

The finalized decision, we'll go to Strato (one of Troika's Sky Dining) and then hit Heli Lounge for a drink.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

So, time to prep for the date night. I opt for something which is simple, comfy yet chic at the same time. As for the makeup, I plan to play it neutral using my Bobbi Brown's Bellini Lip & Eye Palette
(you can read my review here)

My look of the night and #ootn with black, polka dots and a burst of red for some color ❤

Troika Sky Dining has 3 sections; Strato (Italian restaurant), Claret (bar) and Cantaloupe (fine dining). I never have the preference for fine dining as the portions served are really small and you'll have to eat with grace and class while the waitresses are staring at you. Stress much.

Btw, if you are going to Strato, please do not wear skater skirts or dresses as it's located at the upper section. You'll have to take the stairs and it's pretty inconvenient. You shall understand my difficulty when you see the picture at the bottom later.

Taken online as there was people at the table

I would say that the view offered wasn't much but the service and food was awesome. Ambiance wise was perfect, the whole lighting, music and all, lovely for a date night

Sneaky bum took this secretly

We ordered one starter and two mains.

Starter: Scallops and beans

Pizza: Carbonara sauce, broccoli, smoked duck breast

Pasta: Gnocchi with braised chicken ragu and shaved cured foie gras

Each and every one of them was goooooooooood! As for drinks, I had their rose wine and he ordered their Sangria. The wine was okay but the Sangria is not something that I would recommend. We also ordered one of their recommended desserts, Strawberry Panna Cotta.

They would then escort you downstairs near the bar to enjoy your dessert.
The waiter near the stairs saw my skirt and reminded me to "watch my step" while going down.
Note to self: Never wear anything flare to this place the next visit.

The dangerous stairs leading up to Strato and the bar, Claret

Dessert accompanied by romantic ambiance

After lingering there for a bit, we made our move to the Heli Lounge.
The parking there is very small and dodgy for me.

First thing that greets you, the bouncer and a small reception table to take your drinks' order. We were there around 10pm plus, and you can only enter if you buy a bottle. It's like the reception concept at clubs where you have to make your bottle purchase to enter the place. I'm not sure about evenings though, I think they serve dinner and there's no such rule because my friend told me that the food there is pretty good (he went there for dinner with the family).

The lounge area with a live DJ

Of course, you have to make your way to the Helipad for the view. After some stairs, you'll feel the wind once you reach the entrance and be amazed at what greets you!

 It was beautiful up there!
Having both KL Tower and Twin Towers so close to you with their glittering lights..
You might experience some butterflies in your stomach if you are afraid of height.

KL City

Too bad that it started to pour in less than half an hour while we were up there, I didn't even get to finish my first glass. Such a waste :( It would be nice to enjoy the view and wine there.

And that's our date night
Hope you enjoy reading and do share with me your date night outs too!

Till then,

Much loves, xoxo

Makan Spots in Publika

Holla there, lovelies. It has been a very very long week for me as my team and I were so
busily organizing the Urbanscapes 2013: University Edition.
Yes, I can proudly say that I've organized the first preview event ever!
Shall post about it soon (:

So, as promised, I will blog about some makan places in Publika which I have personally tried.
Previously, I did a post on makan spots in Klang, so do check it out if you are going to Klang for a food adventure.

1. Wondermilk

What I love about this place? The whole ambiance..
It's very festival-ish yet welcoming. Love love love their drinks and cupcakes

Ambiance: 4.5 / 5
Food: 4 / 5 (Love their milk drinks)
Price: Affordable
*They also have an area for you to do a little shopping  (:

2. Salon du Chocolat

If you're a BIG BIG BIG fan of  CHOCOLATE, this is for you.
I'm sure most of us have went to DipnDip in Bangsar for the very same thing and apparently they are the only one that sells such desserts. But guess what? We've been deceived the whole time, LOL.
Almost everyone complaint about the service and queue in DipnDip as it's becoming overrated.

Here, you get the awesomest chocolate without the "awesome" time-consuming queue.
What I love most? Their chocolates are off the perfect sweetness. (DipnDip's too sweet for me)

 Ambiance: 4 / 5 (A little small)
Food: 5 / 5
Price: Around the price of DipnDip's
RECOMMENDED

3. S.wine

Hidden in the corner of Big Ben's Grocer, it's quite a trick searching for this place.
So.. I've heard from 2 people that this place serves awesome food with a good price and big portion.
The place is pretty packed with people and it's kinda small. We ordered 2 mains, 1 appetizer and drinks.

Overall, drinks were awesome, appetizer was good and mains.. A little disappointing. I don't know if it's because of my expectations or it's been a little too highly recommended by my friends. I ordered their signature burger and for the first time, I didn't really enjoy much. Big portion? Nahh.. I would say it's pretty average. If I can't finish it, I'll call it big. But I went for more food after dining there, I guess it's justified.

Ambiance: 3.5 / 5 (Too crowded and packed)
Food: 3.5 / 5
Price: Affordable

4. Journal by Plan b

Reason for visiting this place? Because of the hanging chairs. It's silly, I know.
I didn't know that this place was by Plan B till I got there. And, they have the exact menu.
I ordered my usual Big Breakfast.

Ambiance: 4 / 5
Food: 4 / 5
Price: Same as Plan B

5. Es Stillo

Craving for some Spanish or tapas?

Awesome place to chill with awesome food. Love, love, love every single dish served and their mojito is perfect

Ambiance: 4 / 5
Food: 5 / 5
Price: Affordable
RECOMMENDED

6. Moo Cow

If you love froyo (frozen yogurt), do drop by. My favourite place to grab a healthy snack.
My usual order? Froyo in a cup with oreo crumbs with oatmeals. Yummms!~

7. Coffee Stain by Joseph

Heard that they serve awesome coffee but what drew me here was their 3D coffee art.
When I looked at the menu, "Okay lah, just randomly order one coffee. Sure any of them would have the 3D art."

So, I ordered Cappuccino while the boyfie ordered one of their signature drinks, the one which their "silk milk" is served with coffee ice cubes. Yes, you read that. COFFEE ICE CUBES. So cute.

After waiting for like 15 minutes (It's so crowded at night), my excitement calmed down a little..
The drinks came and I was disappointed looking at my cappuccino as there was no 3D art :(
They just did the simple tree design thing. Sipping my coffee with sorrow because there was no 3D art, the coffee was actually very nice. Even the drink ordered by the boyfie was nice.

Then, I bugged the boyfie non-stop till he asked the waitress about the 3D coffee :D
Apparently, they only do that for their hot chocolate and you would have to request for it.
So, I ordered one even though my tummy was about to burst after all the makan sessions at
S.wine, Moo Cow and Salon du Chocolat.

*You'll have to wait quite a bit for the 3D art, don't say I never warn you :p

I was happily making the bear jiggle and dance for 5 minutes before finally distorting it.
The art was very cute indeed but taste wise? Nahh.. It was pretty bad considering it caused me a RM15 for it. It tasted like those packet powdered hot chocolate that you can get from the market and DIY yourself. Such disappointment.
But I would definitely recommend their coffees

Ambiance: 3.5 / 5
Drinks: Awesome coffee, wouldn't recommend the hot chocolate
Price: Starbucks level

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

I guess that's the list for now.
Hope this would help you in deciding where to eat if you do drop by there.

Much loves, xoxo.

Mr and Ms?

For foodies whom are active in Instagram, I'm sure you have seen or heard the name of Mr and Ms cafe?

One of my dearest friends is currently doing his internship there. I was planning to drop by for a visit but mainly because I want to try their food. Been seeing posts about this place for sometime, was wondering what's all the hype about. I dropped by before with mommy last weekend but the crowd in the queuing line was crazy. Ended up in Bad Boy Cooks, some old American diner concept.

This place is pretty awesome. The food was good and price was reasonable, RECOMMENDED (:

Okay, let's get back to Mr and Ms.
The night before, I had ask my friend which food is recommended. His list:
1. The Egg Atlantic
2. Butterscotch Pancakes
3. Meaty Big Breakfast

Upon looking at the menu, the boyfie said,"I think I know what you'll order. The big breakfast isn't it?".
Hahaa, he reads my mind well. Or should I say, he knows me well enough (:
I wanted to try the pancakes, so we ended up ordering:
1. Meaty Big Breakfast
2. Butterscotch Pancakes
3. Summer Cheesecake
4. Earl Grey and Orange Juice

Lovely decor
Breakfast for a boss
Summer cheesecake

My verdict?
Ambiance: 4 / 5
Food: 4.5 / 5
Price: Reasonable
Service: *thumbs up*
Queue to get a table: Crazy on weekends, after 12.15pm
RECOMMENDED

Btw, I love the surroundings at Oasis Square.

To add-on into our already bloated tummies, we went to Wondermilk at Citta mall to fix some sweettooth cravings before watching 'Escape Plan'.

Managed to steal a quick shot, he's camera shy ;p
A cupcake a day keeps the depression away  - Von

'Escape Plan' was great. Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, thumbs up for you guys. I was pretty satisfied with the whole movie. Although it was purely fictional, I was still wow-ed by their characters' minds, the way they observe and think about the whole 'escape plan'. *big applause*

The last meal of the day? Mix grilled platter for 2 and some beer at Brussels. No photo for this one :(

Awesome day spent with fat cat boyfriend, wish that time stops at that moment..

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Shall be posting my October's hauls VERY VERY SOON. Do drop by my blog to get the updates!
Some selca from the day

Look like a girl, act like a lady. Think like a man, work like a boss!

Much loves, xoxo.

Hong Kong (Part 2): Dim Sum and Ocean Park

Oh boy, there goes my procrastination and half a year has passed since I made up my mind to comeback to the world of blogging. Many things ...
